I am so amazed by all the working mums. This week was very overwhelming as I applied for a new job within my company. I was honest and advised of my impending maternity leave which will be for 8 months from end of May. (Australia you can have a year off unpaid). Legally they can't hold it against me. I was succcesful to the next round and now have to do a presentation. So weekend spent preparing that. But then I have all these mixed emotions about taking a more senior and demanding role. How is this going to impact baby lots of day care and early morning starts. I hate that as females our best days of careers is expected to be bang in the middle of our most fertile years so you have both!! Grrr just makes me angry. I am exceptionally lucky as hubby is doing 4 months full time care when I go back at the 8months and maybe feel a bit jealous that he will get to pick baby up everyday from day care and have more time with him in the long run.
