When would you let your daughter start sleeping over at a friend's?

Whenever I feel comfortable enough with the family. I'd never send my child to a sleepover without knowing the parents. Ever!

These never responses are so strange to me. I grew up having tons of sleepovers, it was great. I started having sleep overs at the age of six but that was with my best friend who lived on my street and close family friends. I had such strong friendships growing up and I think part of it was because my friends and I got to have that quality bonding time. My parents also became super close with my friends parents as well and our families became like a community. I think there are so many benefits to letting your child spend time away without family in a controlled environment with people you trust and know well. I got to practice being a guest in someone's home and being a host in my home to my friends. I learned to pack a bag and be organized and responsible with my things. I learned how to plan ahead for things I wanted to do, I knew I had to ask my parents in advance if I wanted to have a friend over or my friends wanted me to come over or if I wanted my friend to come camping or things like that.  To those saying never, do you mind explaining why?

Never...me and hubby talked about this. There is too much crazy stuff that could go on. Our daughter can only have friend's stay the night. And age doesn't matter

Depends on who that friend is, how she and her family is like and like if it's a safe neighborhood I guess. 
I'm against gender rules but I  wouldnt let my daughter sleepover at a boys place that's just how my husband and I are like.
I always loved when I was playing with a friend all day and her parents were about to pick her up but we had so much fun our parents let us have a sleepover.

As parents, don't you think we have to teach our kids what to do if something bad were to happen? I mean, if we shelter them before 18, what is going to happen when they go to college? It's our job to allow them to do fun and safe things, teaching them how to handle the situation if something unsafe was going on. I would never rob my child of this. Sleepovers are FUN and part of the childhood experience. I would make sure I called the parents beforehand and would never send my child to someone's home whom I didn't know. They would know to contact me if something weird was going on. That being said, I would probably wait until later elementary age. Some of my fondest memories are sleepovers as a child! I'd hate not to give that to my child because of fear. KNOWLEDGE is power, parents. Be informed and teach your children how to do the right thing. At some point, we have to let these little ones into the world as young adults. They need to be informed so they don't make poor decisions. Just my two cents.
