can you breastfeed from one side only?

I'm on the verge of moving to formula but I am being very hard on myself about this decision. My baby is 1 month. I've had clogged milk ducts and now mastitis on the right side. I want to cut my boob off it hurts so bad. After this clears up, can I only breastfeed on the left?

Of course! You can successfully nurse only on one side, though most people prefer not to because they don't want uneven breasts. Do know though that your supply changes as you bf so this issue could resolve itself. If you like, you can just nurse less on one side and more on the other to try and even out. But to answer your question yes you absolutely can just pick one side. Make sure not to quit the other side cold turkey because that can lead to mastitis which you are already struggling with.

My daughter only nurses from the left side. She is 4 months old, and in the 90% percentile for weight. As long as you produce enough, my doctor said it's fine to only eat off one side. 
I couldn't get comfortable holding her to nurse off the right side. I pump that side once at night and once in the morning and get an ounce each time. My right boob was always slightly bigger than my left, so now they're the same size! Lol
