Breakthrough Bleeding or Withdrawl?

So i started the patch 3 weeks ago. Today is the first day of my patch free week. However, at the beginning of last week i had some dark brown/reddish discharge that I think was spotting. Starting at about last thursday night it turned to more of a bright red, slightly heavier flow. Its just mostly when I wipe, so I don't know if it's just a really light period since i'm now on hormonal bc, or if it's just some other bleeding that can occur within the first few months of using the patch. I don't really have any cramps either which is throwing me off. I also don't think it's implantation bleeding since we also use a condom. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow but I wanted to see if anyone has any idea what's going on down there.
