more painful cramps than usual should I be worried?

My husband and I have been trying to convince but unfortunately I started spotting yesterday and this morning my period started though I'm sad I'm more concerned by the insane cramps I'm having. I have no idea if I'm overreacting or if this a very early miscarriage? I didn't miss a period so I'm not sure what's going on. Any advice would help.

I think could be an early miss carriage which is sometimes called a chemical pregnancy. I've had two and both periods after have been worse with cramping. I know it's hard but I try to think that there must have been a reason why it didn't work out and I'm glad it wasn't after huge excitement or longer.
