Thoughts on promise rings?

I've been with m significant other for 1 year and 8 months and I've received mine with a matching bracelet. It feels a little too big but I think it's cute ~

I know plenty that got a promise ring and broke up or got cheated.  I know many that were given a promise ring and their SO left them later on... 
Realistically, it's a nice gesture,  but it's not as a big deal as I see women make of it. Yes, there are men that give one to be nice and as a promise to what's to come.
But think about this for a sec. ..if u are confident that u want to spend ur life with a person,  rather than a promise ring, an engagement ring is much more apropriate...nobody is rushing anyone into marriage..i know couples that stayed engaged for years, before finally tying the knot. 
My personal opinion is that a promise ring is overrated...

I love promise rings for young couples. My SO gave me mine when we were in our teens. Now it's my engagement ring and we are set to be married in 2018!

This is mine. I got mine about 2 years ago when he asked me to prom with a "PROMise" ring. Cutest thing ever!! We are about to have our 4 year anniversary in a few weeks and just moved in together! ♡
