Throw away gripe water 14 days after opening!

Does everyone do this? I see people saying they don't throw it out but the box says to throw away 14 days after it's been opened. Seems like such a waste when sometimes I only need 5mls in 14 days! But I also don't want to go against directions and my baby get sick.
