MIL drama

Friday I went into L&D and my mom offered to take me because she was in the area anyway. It want an emergency I just wanted to make sure I wasn't leaking and I wasn't. I made sure to tell my MIL but she got mad that I didn't ask her first to take me. I told her that since my husband was 2 hours away at work during a storm that I wanted my mom with me for comfort. There's no comparison to the comfort of your mom when you're worried. She called my husband and complained to him that I didn't call her even though she was in the area. It's not a competition! She said she earned to at least be called first. Like what? Am I wrong? I just wanted to get checked out and the first call I got was from my mom asking if I needed a ride.
