Give 2 month old baby medicine before first shots to prevent fever?

My baby will be 2 months old in a few days..and a few days after that she has her 2 month doctors appointment where she will be getting her first shots.  I have heard of parents giving their baby a dose of tylenol or motrin right before they get the shots to prevent fever. However with Tylenol and Motrin being recalled and unavailable the only other med ive seen is childrens advil.  Have any of you given your baby meds before their shots and is childrens advil okay?

No do not! It makes the vaccines not as or not affective! My boy just needed a good nap afterward. He was fine afterwards! During was hard. He didn't Kihei the needles but....he was just glad to leave lol

Your infant is too young for ibuprofen!!! Also doctors recommend after because they don't like to vaccinate if there's a fever present. Wait until after and only acetaminophen before 6 months of age. The doctor will tell you a correct dose for the weight of your baby.

My doctor said not to premedicate because it can affect the immune response to the vaccines.

Only Tylenol before 6 months. And I always waited until after and if he started getting a fever that they warned me about. Then I gave the dose they recommended.

I wouldn't. My son has never had a fever after his shots and your baby may not either. If anything i would say a warm bath works wonders afterwards.

Yes I would wait until after you won't know the proper dose until the doctor tells you. And go with Tylenol they help get fevers down.

I ended up not giving the next shot and watch over her temperature over the night. It was 37.1'C at 01:24 am and 37.4'C at 6am but then she's getting better today so I just let her be. Haha yeah right, doctors may have different approaches and all.

No way I would not do that. Neither of my kids have needed any medicine after vaccines. Why would you give your tiny baby medicine when it may not even be necessary?

I was about to but I Googled it first just to be sure and they say it's not recommended because it can affect the vaccines. Never would've thought that!! Then I brought it up at the Dr's office and I was told that it's true.

My doctor said no.  My lo didn't get a fever after any of his shots.  She did recommend something before his one year shots tho since it is live vaccines at 1.
