Tattoos while breastfeeding?

Question

Have any of you gotten a tattoo while breastfeeding? I had a tattoo planned before I found out I was carrying my miracle baby and I'm hoping to still get it once I'm no longer pregnant. Is it okay to get one while breastfeeding? Obviously the safety of my child is number one and a tattoo can definitely wait. Thanks!

Some places won't tattoo you whilst your breast feeding.. guess it's up to you and the person you have tattoo you 😊

I've been breastfeeding for almost 14 months and have gotten tattooed multiple times (once when babe was 3 months and once when she was about 11 months). It's true baby eats often but it's pretty common that your artist will take a break every few hours (2 or so) and you can also tell them you need a break to feed babe. I took multiple breaks to feed my babe while getting tattooed with no problems. As long as you can have someone bring baby to the shop then I say go for it.

Personally I would wait till I'd stopped bf- especially if it's a tattoo that's going to take several hours. From experience of having 2 combination fed babies and one exclusively breastfed baby, small babies need feeding every couple of hours and missing a feed can cause a lot of pain, discomfort and even leaking as your body quickly adapts to your baby's routine and starts to get ready for the feed- even if baby is nowhere near. How long do you plan to bf for? You've waited 9 months already, what's a few more months? :-)
