Doctor Protocol?

Does anyone else's doctor do a Biophysical Profile ultrasound every week? I feel like it's a bit excessive to expose my son to ultrasound waves every week for the last 5 weeks.

They wouldn't do it if it put your baby at risk, and you can always decline the scans. However the risk for still births goes up towards the end of pregnancy for many reasons; placenta deficiencies, decreased fluid levels, knots in umbilical chord... I would be extremely grateful if my doctor just did one ultrasound on me. I haven't had one since 20 weeks.

If they are doing them for no reason I would deny them. However, ultrasounds are not dangerous at all and won't harm baby. I get biophysical profiles done twice a week because baby is measuring small, umbilical cord has high resistance, and baby has a VOGM malformation that we are keeping an eye on where she'll need surgery after birth, the malformation also causes her to have a large heart and can cause heart failure and can also cause hydrocephalus so they are watching that too.

I have to have bios done the whole last trimester weekly. With my son now my daughter. It comes with being high risk. My son is perfectly healthy and we saw him a lot on ultrasound. But it is your choice to decline them. I think the benefits outweighs the risk so we do them.
