Bactrim and breastfeeding...(?)
Been waiting to hear back from my OB-GYN but figured I'd see if anybody has dealt with this. I got prescribed an antibiotic for an infection I got from.a pedicure on Valentine's day and also a grape sized boil on my leg.
I had to go to a clinic because 1) it was a Saturday and 2) I'm new to the area and before I could find a family doctor I found out I was pregnant so haven't had a chance to look around for one.
So the prescribing doctor advised me it wasn't safe for breastfeeding but didn't have an alternative antibiotic to suggest. She just said to formula feed for the 10 days I'll be taking it and to pump and dump my milk.
My son is 3 weeks old and I'm really upset about having to switch him to bottle for those 10 days, well more because I'm going to wait a few more days after I'm off it.
I'm trying to tell myself it's not the end of the world but I'm having a hard time letting go of breastfeeding, unsure if it will be final or temporary. Also, I haven't used my pump yet so that's something new to deal with too.
Anybody experience this? Or have any suggestions? Or just tell me it's not the end of the world to formula feed temporarily (hopefully).
