No baby at 6-7 week ultrasound?

Question

Anyone not seen a fetus at 6-7 weeks and still be pregnant? Asking for my SIL they told her she is having a miscarriage because they didn't see a baby.

I go to Kaiser in CA and they will not see you bc if this reason . They want to wait for 1st time appointments when ur between 9-13 weeks . Baby can be ok but too small , wait it out

That happened to my sister. I forgot what the technical term for it was, but she had a gestational sac with no baby in it. At 7 weeks they decided to do a D & C since nothing had changed. She got pregnant like 3 months later with a healthy pregnancy

By that point, you should be able to see the fetus and the yolk sac. I was also able to see my baby's heatbeating at 6 weeks 3 days when I had my first ultrasound.

My mother in law was told the same thing but that was 30 years ago. At the advice of her ob she waited to see if it would pass naturally and went back for another scan a month later and my brother in law was very much alive and growing. 
In 30 years you'd expect the tech and training would have improved though. At 7 weeks I could see my jelly bean and his/her heartbeat very clearly.

This was my 7 week ultrasound, honestly I would tell her to wait a week or 2 & then go back in .. a friend of mine was told she had a miscarriage around the same time because they couldn't see the baby, turned out she just wasn't as far as they thought .. baby continued growing with no prenatal care & the mom had no knowledge of the baby being in there. She gave birth to her still born at 20 weeks.

I had an ultrasound at 6wks with my first and second. They had heart beats and baby was visible

Is there anything in the sac? A yolk sac perhaps? If not it's called a blighted ovum. 
If so I think it's not going to turn out good. I just went through this myself.
Week 7-yolk and no fetal pole
Week-8 enlarged yolk- feral pole 2 weeks behind- no heat beat
Week 9- regular yolk- smaller sac - smaller fetal pole- still no heat beat
Week 10- d&c (personal choice)

I would tell her to give it more time to see if anything develops and if a baby shows up. Also ask if she can be moved up to a level 2 ultrasound machine. They are much clearer and a special ultrasound time just to search for a baby may be do her good.

We couldn't see my daughter straight away. I had several early ultrasounds. Wait it out.
