Not putting socks on your baby is neglect?

Someone just told me your baby not having socks on is neglect, so another mom would step in when you "neglect" your child. 
My son takes socks off as soon as they're on. So I don't bother with them. I think the person that said that is a little too concerned about things that she shouldn't be concerned about...

Well I mean if it's cold outside and your kid has no socks on.. yeah that's slightly neglectful. But not having socks on when it's warm out or they're inside? Na. 
If you would need socks on then your baby needs socks.

Not having proper clothing for the weather and environment is neglect.  Taking a baby out in sub zero temperatures with no feet covering at all would fall into that category.

Sitting inside a nice warm home sockless is obviously not. I suspect anyone that tried to report that, would be on the receiving end of a lecture from DCFS.

Tf? My boys (like their dad!) do NOT like socks when they aren't wearing shoes. Plus, when they're babies, they learn to pull them off lmao. That woman is a quack

Generally, baby should be wearing one layer more than you are comfortable wearing. So if you are comfortable without socks, you might want to put thin socks on the baby. Babies lose a lot of their body heat through their feet and heads. I definitely would not go so far as to say it was neglect, because if you don't know this stuff, then how could it be neglect? I think neglect is more like you know your baby is cold and you still don't put socks on your baby.

We are a notorious no sock family. Obviously when we go out into the elements we wear socks and shoes. As for baby, if the baby is going out of course. Once the baby is crawling it's actually helpful to allow them to go sock less. My walking 10 month old is proof of that.

If it's warm obviously you don't need socks. If it's cold obviously put socks on the child. People really take things wayyyy to far. You know what's best for your child.

If your child is literally freezing cold with inadequate clothing on based on the weather, that's neglect. Parents need to mind their damn business about what other people do with their children. 🙄 I would probably have slapped someone who said that to me.
