oral vitamin k?

Wondering if anyone ever used the oral vitamin k with newborns. recommendations since I believe the peditrtian doesn't provide drops. Thanks!

We have opted to have vitamin k administered orally. I don't want my newborn being poked with a needle straight after birth. Our midwife provides the first oral dosage, then leaves us two more to administer ourselves

is this even necessary? from my current understanding the need for vit k is to stop bleeding after circumcision. why would someone give vit k to a baby girl?
