will peroxide mess up the carpet

Old roommates had a cat that pissed all over the bedroom carpet. Trying to get the smell out. I read online to try hydrogen peroxide with 4 tablespoons of dish soap. I guess my question is will the peroxide take the color out of the carpet?

I would buy a cleaning product specifically for pet odors.
They sell them at pet stores and places like Walmart

I'm actually paying someone to shampoo wash the carpet and sterilize it for the same reason we are paying $100 for both rooms living room hallway and stairs

It can ruin it. Buy resolve for pets. It works wonders. My dog would have accidents here and there.

The thing about cats is their urine is so strong there's a very good chance you will have to replace the carpet.

I usually use vinegar and baking soda. Have you tried that yet? It usually works really well.
