I'm just looking into budgeting and all that with a wedding and I'm curious how much did you spend total and how much did you spend on the bigger things like your dress? Thank you 🙂

Just us and our immediate family in a park. We didn't even tell anyone else we were doing it.

About 9k, 8 years ago. We had about 110 people. We were married on my parents gorgeous farm. My Mom is an amazing seamstress and made my gown, her dress, the bridesmaids dresses, and table cloths. Food was another $1600. We had the meat smoked professionally on site for $600 (incredible) and a chef do the sides and apps. The food was incredible. $450 for the live jazz band. They played the reception and they were amazing. $400 for the pianist and strings at the church. I'm a musician so great music is a must, but I also have connections. I spent $1200 on the flowers. I know that sounds like a lot, but that was worth it to me. My dress cost $600 with imported lace from France, but it was handmade based on a 12,000 gown I showed my Mom. $300 for 2 cakes. The rest was for rentals. I have a friend who is a photographer. I sang his wedding and he photographed mine, no cost there.

Pricing varies so much state to state, city to city, even day to day!!! We got a steal on our venue (in Lake Tahoe, CA) because we got married on a Monday.

That being said, after everything we spent about $32k for ~115 people. That included my dress ($1700 + $700 alterations) and our wedding bands ($2000 for both) but not my engagement ring. The other biggest expenses were photography (two photographers, all day, $3400) and videography (3 videographers, $2500). Biggest cost saving thing we did were flowers! $200 for hydrangeas from Sams club online, put in mason jars. Done!

$550 on the dress and about 300 on the alterations. About 10,000 total. It was beautiful and we had a really big wedding but I personally would never do it again. I would do something small and not be in debt if I had it to do again.

I hadn't had mine yet but most things are booked. At this point I'm at about 15,000 including my honeymoon. Haven't gotten a dress yet or the tuxes but I don't plan on spending much over $1000 on a dress. And the other thing I need is just a florist which I don't want a lot of stuff so hopefully that won't cost a million dollars.
