Hi Dr. Khan! Thank you so much for being here at Glow again. I will start us off by asking, why is it that my RE asked me to lose 20 lbs before the start of my IVF. At the time my BMI was 35. What is the relationship btwn IVF and weight?

My problem is that I am too thin. I cannot seem to get weight no matter how much I eat - and consequently do not have periods. (Like maybe 1 period every 6 months). What can I do?

My RE also told me to lose weight - but I am finding it VERY difficult to do with PCOS. Any advice? Is there anything other than metformin that I can take to help control the sugar cravings? Why is there no new drugs in 20+ years in dealing with PCOS?

I'm not sure if this Q&A is still open but I had a general question. I stopped Birth control 1.5 yrs ago (progesterone only) and from then to now I have had a lot of changes. Gain 20lbs, hair growth, sweating, alternating irregular periods, etc. Blood panels show hormones appear fine except a ever so slightly elevated testosterone and very low vitamin D. My doctor said I may have a "touch" of PCOS but doesn't appear concerned. As I have a 5 year old she believes I can concieve naturally, but if I grow impatient try Clomid. My question is really if you have any insight to what's going on? And really any recommendations for weightloss/management (this has never been an issue for me,  and seems completely out of my control at the moment)... thank you

Dr khan do u know of any one who got pregnant with a valve replacement and it was successful

I have plenty of friends who are severely overweight and have had no problems getting pregnant.  Why is that?
