copper IUD?

Any girls here have the non hormonal copper IUD? Are your periods heavier and more painful on this IUD?

I have it. I've been on it for almost 2 years now and it's meh. my periods went from being 3-5 days long and light most days to now being 7-10 days long (sometimes up to 2 weeks) and extremely heavy!!!! I like not having to worry about taking a pill and it lasts so long but I've been thinking about having it taken out.  these periods kill me.

Mine caused me to have heavier and very crampy period. I love the thought of no hormones though. However... I was on it for about a year and I noticed some black discharge and I went to the gyno. They thought I had BV at first and gave me an antibiotic... Then it came back about two weeks later, so I went back in and my doc said there's a good chance that it is from the copper IUD and there's nothing they can do besides take it out. Its because it was a foreign body in my body. Not saying that everyone will have the same experience though... I have tried nearly every form of BC and it either made me depressed or gave me bad acne, until I went on the patch six months ago. Took my acne away, no mood changes, nothing. It may not seem like it, but its very effective if you use it correctly. The only complaint I have it that near the patch area, it irritates my skin and gets itchy. Other than that, I'd give it 9/10.

My periods were really heavy, veey crampy/painful and lasted more than a week (around 8-10 days) for about the first 10 months to a year but they're going back to normal now, much lighter periods and shorter duration. It's very normal for periods to get heavier and longer and more painful after getting the IUD put in but speak to your doctor if you're concerned and just get them to double check that the coil is in properly just to be safe!

Had it and yes heavier and more cramps but it's normal. Got it removed after 5 Years
