I miscarried last year, I've coped with the fact my child is gone... until I received a bill for $18,000 from my hospital today...didn't get a D&C simply was under lots of pain and didn't even stay the night ... like what in the actual fuck I could of paid for my child's freaking college plus some

My hospital bill was between $8000 to $9000 and I stayed two nights with my stillbirth at 27 weeks. Only paid $250 after insurance was billed. I'm not sure why yours would be so expensive!?!

Call them and make sure they have your insurance info - sounds like they don't .  I know lots BC after being billed for my sons 98 days in the NICU at 1.4million - not a typo - it was because they had wrong info and was getting rejected by wrong insurance company

Even having insurance, because we had to make the heartbreaking decision to terminate (D&E at 21 weeks 4 days ago) for PROVEN medical reasons........our insurance refused to cover anything. If it was a  termination due to rape, incest, or health risk to the mother then yes they would cover it. But proven medical necessity for baby.....NOPE. I had 3 places I could go, fortunately my favorite Dr in a private practice was the most "affordable" at $3,500 and he agreed with my request for the KCL shot for my baby girl so she never suffered(in fact, he requires it which I love). Two other places would have added up to over $10k and didn't offer the shot so I'd be on my own finding someone to do the KCL shot........it just adds insult to injury when you have to make such a heartbreaking decision in the first place, and then to have insurance treat you like absolute shit, no compassion at all for a medically proven reason for baby. Our last scan even confirmed baby was rapidly going downhill since she developed severe cystic hygroma and hydrops in just a few weeks, on top of everything that was already wrong with my poor girl. Shit situation all around! And this is WITH insurance that I pay every single month.....

That's insane. However if you have insurance you should have a maximum out of pocket cost.
