Help. Please.

So me and SO tried to do anal the other day, hurt like a bitch. I mean he puts his finger , maybe fingers not sure 😂 in there and it's not painful & I like it. We did with me laying on my side, any idea why it hurt so bad? Or how to make it less painful?
