What should I do my history research paper on?

I would start researching both. If you have a hard time finding credible information on one, then pick the other one. From my experience with writing research papers, finding credible information can be hard! Don't start writing until you know you have good articles 😊

You should go with what interests you more, but as someone who's been through a bunch of history classes (I graduated with a history degree) if you want to do something more unique I'd go with the Loving v. Virginia.

lol I feel like nobody picked Loving because they don't know what that is.  As part of an interracial marriage, I voted for Loving. ☺

It's a hard call. Which are you most interested in? Loving v Virginia is a really interesting, but not well known. Meanwhile, the Salem Witch Trials is a very popular subject. Both are incredibly important events. I'd probably pick the I knew less about.

Fun to note, I have a 6(?) times great grandmother who was accused & found guilty of witchcraft during the time Salem Witch Trials, but in a different Massachusetts town. Before they could execute her, she escaped. If she hadn't escaped, I wouldn't be here now. Basically, if your family was in the area around that time, someone related to you was probably accused... That's how wide spread the hyateria was.

In the same respect, Loving v Virginia probably impacts one of your living relatives. I kinda feel like its a parallel of Salem.

Both were based on fear and hysteria over 'the other', both a result of terrible ignorance. Both horrible events were defended vigorously as godly, righteous and lawful, despite being absolute bunk.
