I've been timing my contractions and the timing in between them is inconsitant. How do you know when it's time to go to the hospital? Will your contractions be more consistent when it's time or will they constantly be inconsistent?

When your contractions are between 4 and 5 minutes apart and lasting about a minute is when they say it's best but if your waters break then you should go in

4 to 5 minutes from the start of one to the start of the next, 60 seconds in length - this is really important to wait for and not count 55 seconds - gotta be a solid 60, so this pattern for ONE hour.

I went when mine were about 2 minutes apart. My midwife said laboring at home is ok as long as I could walk and talk. It wasn't until they were that close that they got that uncomfortable. Plus, laboring at home, you're still able to eat small snacks. Once you get to the hospital, you'll most likely be in ice chips. Not good for a long labor, and can actually extend it. You want as many calories for energy as possible.
