Do you find it annoying when people make everything about race?

I just find it annoying.   I am engaged to a white male and I hate when others bring up race so much.  I rarely discuss it because we just see each other as man and woman.  We have a lot in common personality wise, and similar values.  But ppl will still comment like it's something exotic.  As if you are dating an alien and you come from 2 different worlds.  It really gets under my skin.  I ignore it.   Any other couples like this???

My husband and I are both white. So I can't relate on that subject. BUT I can't voice my opinion on ANYTHING without being called a "white privileged bitch". Even if it was something as simple as "I prefer cats over dogs ". And there was one time that I was working (at a preschool) and we were discussing colors before the kids got picked up. I had flash cards with all the colors on them. One African American lady walked in as I held up the color black. The kids mostly said brown (it's common for three year olds to confuse black and brown while learning colors) and I said "good try but this color is black". And she started yelling at me saying I was racist because I said it was black. In front of all of the kids. My supervisor had to come into my classroom to ask what the problem was and literally laughed in her face because of how ridiculous she was being. So yeah. Race is basically made up by people who want to get attention. I'm not even "white". I'm Cherokee Indian mixed with Irish. 🙄 but my skin is light enough that no one notices.

I married a black man and I'm white and his mom always makes comments bout race always. Started when I had kids and it was wow they look just like me but they white like you. Or your brother in law has him a white girl but she isn't as pretty as you. My favorite was I was in church and there was this pretty mixed girl and all I could do was think to myself she pretty but not as pretty as my mixed grand babies. Ugh. Idk why everyone is so wrapped up in race/color. We r all people. Who cares what color I am or my husband or my kids? But apparently it's all some see. I love my MIL and I know she means no harm as she is like a mother to me and all. We have a great relationship but it took me a while to get past all the race comments with her and now I just ignore them smile and change the topic.

I think that's just the reality of our world, especially when people feel more embolden to say racist things, it's hard to ignore that. As a black woman pregnant with a mixed baby and married to a white man living in the south, race is an issue. It's okay to see race, but it shouldn't be all consuming.

Kinda, I mean we're all people of the same species and any differentiation, positive or negative, is still differentiation. We all came from the same common ancestor somewhere in the Middle East and we're all probably going to wind up the same color as long as the earth survives to sustain. All our genetics are related. Any time someone says anything off I always say "we're all pink on the inside". Exotic is a subjective term. When I think of exotic, I think of where someone comes from, not skin color
