Husband's love language seems to be gifts... I'm grateful for the gesture but I'm not sure if it's healthy for him to buy me things after upsetting me. This instance, he verbalized an apology first, and later explained these gifts were just late Valentine's Day gifts since I had surprised him with something much bigger than what he got me.

He needs to learn YOUR love language and express himself being sorry using that language. If HE likes receiving gifts then you should be the one gift giving. He's got the love language thing backwards...

My husband is the same way . I think he genuinely enjoys buying me things and I also think he isn't as well spoken or in touch with his emotions as I'd like him to be . For a long time he solely used gifts as an apology and now he's getting so much better at verbally expressing sorrow or guilt.  I appreciate both forms of apology and I love him as is . If he isn't good with words and his way of saying sorry is a gift then to me it's okay bc at least the intention behind it is a sorry.
