Any RNs or LPNs?🤒👩🏼‍⚕️🏥

Question

So I really don't know what I want to do. What's the difference. I want to start my pre reqs ATM but which one should I do? LPN or RN? What's the main difference. Right now. I'm a X-ray tech, a CNA, and a CMA, but I want to be more. Please help! Thanks.

Don't do LPN. It's hard to bridge over to RN later. Depending where you work often times you do similar things and get paid so much less.

I've been a RN for 10 years. Started as CNA. I recommend just going for the RN especially if you plan on working in hospital setting. I'm sure it varies state to state but in my experience with Virginia hospitals they started to phase out LPNs unless they were actively going for their RN. Then for RNs if you didn't already have a BSN they were making people go back to school for that. They keep upping the bar. Especially hospitals with magnet status. So, to each their own but hell... might as well just go for the RN in my opinion. Less hassle later on

Definitely RN. I'm an LPN and the worst part is doing the RNs work and having them sign off on it. So basically sucky pay for the same work and you never get any credit.

It's not really hard to bridge over if you do LPN first, then went RN. Nursing jobs are a SHORTAGE right now. You can get a job in most areas (May not be hospital though). I did my prerequisites for ADN, got in & started, & stuff popped up, which caused me to put it off. Doing LPN program this May, & will later bridge. Nothing is impossible to do. Could be harder, but not impossible.

RN here! Unfortunately where I live LPNs are a dying breed. They are not allowed to work in most hospital settings.

I am an RN. RNs can do more than LPNs. There is a lot more opportunity and more money. LPNs mostly work in the clinics. But it's more schooling to be an RN. But totally worth it.

There's some skills and what you're legally allowed to do/give but really not much different. Alot of your core knowledge is the same, RN just more in depth in some areas. Have been through both programs and due to some family issues at the time finished LPN to graduate on time, would love to go back and finish eventually. Either way you're looking at a rewarding career if you want to help people
