When to start clomid?

Hi! I just finished my second round of clomid and I'm feeling like I have been taking it wrong. My days are cd3-7 and my doc said to take it the first day of true bleeding. I normally spot for a couple of days then medium to heavy by like the 4th day. Do I need to take it on my first heavy day of flow?

First time you see bright red blood is day 1. I will spot brown usually for 1-2 days before.

day 1 should be first day you use pad or tampon. i was also told if that starts after noon then to count the father plowing day as day 1.
