What should happen to kids who intentionally lie on college applications?

Context on the choices:

1. Have their application rejected if the lie was discovered during the review process or get kicked out of college if the lie was discovered after.

2. Have their name blacklisted so that other schools are warned as well.

3. Forced to complete however much they lied about. Say they claimed 550 hours and only did 50. Make them do the extra 500 they claimed to do. Claimed to join the nonexistent Red Cross club at their school? Be the founder of a summer Red Cross club and then legitimately claim that. Etc.

4. If they made it all the way through college, I read that the degree could be taken away if the lie was discovered.

5. Other ideas/mix of options

Recently I have discovered that a lot of my friends are lying on their college apps. They lie about volunteer hours and say that they were in clubs that they never even had at their schools. This is a huge problem for many reasons, the main one being that it unfairly increases competition in schools for things that don't even actually exist.

I have done some research and found out that the above options and a few others are the results that some liars faced. Which ones do you find to be most appropriate for someone who is caught lying on an app?

People lie on job apps all the time. I was even taught to do that in high school because it was survival over a lie. It doesn't surprise me that people would lie on college apps too since you need degrees to do anything. If they catch it during the process then just reject it. Don't fuck someones chances for the rest of they're life.

Academic fraud is horrible! If you lie about something and it's proven to be a lie rather than a mistake you should be kicked out of college.  A college degree is an amazing accomplishment, not something you should be able to swindle.  I fired an employee for falsification of his academic history.  I feel no shame for this. I gave him multiple options to come clean and he didn't.  I'll reserve that employment spot for someone who isn't a liar.

I think their application should be rejected but if they are already in the school and doing well, I think they shouldn't be kicked out. Also maybe it should depend on the severity of the lie. Saying you were in some silly school club when you only attended 2 out of the 12 meetings isn't a big deal to me but the example you gave of the volunteer hours information is a big deal. Also if it's about certain accomplishments they never achieved. In my school we have this "excellence award" and I was told quite a few kids put that on their applications despite not receiving the award. I think that is stupid and annoying as it makes it a less prestigious and desirable achievement for everyone.

The college verifies all of that so I see no point in lying. If they don't, it's their fault and I would probably go to a different school. Especially if they aren't checking grades because that's just lazy and easily verifiable. But they'll have their application rejected and I agree with that.
