Do you judge people who have poor grammar?

Misspellings, poor grammar, misuse of words, and misuse of punctuation all bother me, but I try not to judge anyone because they only bother me because I was a linguistics major in college and that's basically what my whole degree is about. 😂

Only if it's so bad that I have to read it 10 times to even slightly understand what in the fuck that person is trying to say.

Yes. Not even gonna try to lie about it. I do judge people based on their grammar, spelling, etc. If it's not too bad, I don't really care. If it's truly awful to where I can't even comprehend what they're saying, I just decide that they're hopeless and call it a day. I'm not majoring in any sort of English major but I guess spelling and grammar have always been something of a pet peeve for me.

If the person doesn't speak English fluently, then I will let it slide. I will also excuse horrible autocorrect as long as it isn't excessive (just proof read your message. A few mistakes is fine)

But in general it drives me absolutely nuts. Especially if it's during a serious conversation or debate. If you can't spell or use the right words or grammar, you just look ridiculous. You look uneducated, you look silly. I can't take you seriously.

Even if you are from a place with aweful education, or you didn't get the help you needed while in school. You can learn now! Pick up a book, use google, there are free online courses in this shit. There are very few valid excuses to not be able to write or speak in your own native tongue 😓

I know a lot of people have difficulty with reading. I've been at a college reading level since 6th grade. When I was a senior in high school, I kid you not, there were only 4 people (included myself) in my English class that were reading at a 12th grade level (in a class of 36). There were 15 people that were at a 5th grade or under reading level. It is astounding. Our education system is absolutely failing some people.
