when do ppl announce once pregnant.

Just curious since ttc  , I know I'm thinking ahead of. Myself ! At what point did u announce to family ? Friends ? Also I was told a doctor won't see you until eight weeks along !! I will be soo stressed / curious to know if everything developing fine !

I told everyone the same week I found out because my bachelorette party was the next weekend. I would have a hard time explaining why I wasn't drinking.

We announced to immediate family only at 6 weeks; extended family at 10 weeks; and the world at 13 weeks.

I've been monitored had blood work and two ultrasounds done so I knew the baby was okay and so I told two friends, one at work and one outside of work, as soon as I found out. We waited until almost 8 weeks to tell my family and at 9 weeks told extended family and friends. I'll be 11 weeks on my birthday and plan to tell the FB world and my coworkers then. I don't want my students or their parents to know yet for a while, though.

I guess they usually say a good time to announce is 12 weeks , I'm 13 weeks now and have told barely anyone , it's up to you when you wish to announce , whenever your comfortable !

With my first I told my husband and my best friend when I found out.  My plan was to wait for the 10 week ultrasound to tell family, but it turned out my sister in law was also pregnant and told my husband the same day I did. So we ended up telling immediate family within the week.  Then extended family after the sonogram, and the fb world after we knew everyone we felt the need to personally tell knew.

This time I told my husband first and only told close friends leading up to the sonogram. Then we surprised the family with pictures of my son announcing it.  (It worked out too because my sister in law had her second baby that same week). Basically I like to tell my close support system from the beginning, they would be the same people who would help me most if I lost the baby. Then everyone else after.

The doctor can't do or see much before the 8-10week mark, that's why they do the usually want to see you.  Earlier sonograms seem to cause more worry because they see the start of something but can't confirm if everything is okay and the mother had to come back anyway and worry!

We family right away. Waited until after the first appt to tell everyone else via Facebook. I honestly wanted to wait longer but someone threw us under the bus so we told some friends, then my MIL was bugging me everyday about announcing so we did.. I would've waited until about 10 weeks.
