Can a childhood Hernia affect pregnancy later in life?

I had a hernia when I was about 4 years old. My mom says it was something I was born with, that the bones or tissue just didn't develop properly. I of course had surgery to correct it as soon as we found out what it was.

Now that I'm 23 and pregnant, I'm wondering if my childhood hernia will affect my abilities to give birth vagnially. If anyone has expericed this themselves or knows someone that went through this same thing, please provide your insight.

I am currently in between health insurance plans as I have moved to a new state and Covered Cali is being very difficult. However as soon I can get in to see my OB I will definitely be bringing this up with them.

But any insight from you guys right know would be extremely appreciated ☺️💜

I had an umbilical hernia that was fixed via surgery when I was like 8. I'm 27 now and preggers. I asked my OB if I should anticipate any issues and he says definitely not. He even took a look at my scar tissue on the ultrasound just to reassure me cause I was freaking out with every little tinge of pain 😂 I'm 20 weeks and so far so good. Hope this helps but I'm sure it'll all be just fine love.

What kind of hernia did you have?  If it was fixed, it shouldn't be a problem.

It shouldn't. My sister had a hernia while she was pregnant and didn't get it fixed until months after she gave birth. It didn't affect her pregnancy or labor and delivery. You got yours fixed as a child so it definitely shouldn't be a problem
