how do I tell him I can't stand his BO? 🤢

I love my daddy, but he's 75 & as most old folks, he has a distinctive smell. He usually takes showers every Sunday morning and washes in his bathroom sink in between. But this past Sunday, I think he forgot to take a shower. I'm not sure if he's waiting for another Sunday to wash up fully or what, but the past 2 days I couldn't stand his BO cause it's making me nauseous! 🤢

How do I tell him he needs to take a shower 🚿 without hurting his feelings? 😕

My dad is 77 and doesn't have a smell but he bathes everyday he's big on hygiene. But if he did smell I'd tell him straight up . He's not the type to get in his feelings . But my mom is big on hygiene so she has no issues telling anyone they have a stinch .

Maybe he needs reminders to shower. I worked in a nursing home and it was mandatory at least twice a week. If they refuse three times we got drs orders. It's very unsanitary and bad for their health.

I would also keep a close eye if he's forgetting anything else or seems even slightly disoriented. Lack of personal hygiene can be an indication of something else going on, too.

Other than that, I'd just try to delicately and privately say something. Try to remember he's an adult, and of course doesn't want to be "treated as a child". It's a fine line when you're helping someone elderly not to make them feel that way.
