My boyfriend is so overprotective and I thought I can't stand it anymore! What should I do?

My husband is extremely protective when it comes to people hurting me or if I'm upset bc people disappoint me. But there's a difference between protective and controlling

Your boyfriend sounds controlling, not overprotective. If you can't have a serious talk with him, it's probably time to move on.

Tell him that you don't need his protection because you are a grown person who can handle herself and you already have parents. You will do as you please, and if he doesn't like it, he can step the fuck out of your life. OK… Don't let this man walk all over you.

How overprotective? It's one thing if it's like he wants you to let him know you got somewhere safe, it's a whole different ballgame though if he's using his protectiveness to control you. Like telling you he doesn't want you to see your friends or family because he "wants to protect you" or whatever he comes up with

If he's trying to isolate you, which he is, that is controlling not protective and is one of the warning signs of possible abuse. Look up loveisrespect.org and see if you recognize anything… He either needs counseling, or needs to not have a girlfriend
