Does the IUD give you irregular periods?

I know it can make it lighter or stop it all together, but does it give you random irregular periods like the implant does? Or does it depend on the person/the type of IUD you get? I've been on the pill for over a year and it's been working great, I like that I can have my period once a month but I was thinkinf about getting something more reliable.

I have mirena and I don't have periods at all. Paragard is nonhormonal and i was told that it can cause your periods to be heavier and last longer so I didn't choose it. I love my mirena.

Everyone's different. I didn't have irregular periods with my copper IUD, I did however fall pregnant with it in place.

I went on the mirena and they were irregular for 6 months and then evened out again.

I had the Skyla IUD and loved it... it's good for 3 years. When I first got it, I had random spotting for about 3 months. My "period" if you can even call it that, lasted about 1-2 days max and was so light I could honestly probably had one regular tampon in all day.  It was fabulous and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again! Not having to remember a pill every day was huge for me.

I'm on paraguard and it's been 4 months and mine is still irregular 😩
