Freckles on Retina?

Question

Anyone ever had/heard of freckles being on the retina? My husband went to the optometrist today to find out he has it.  The optometrist said it's likely caused by polyps being on the colon. 
I'm one concerned wife right now!

My grandpa had this too- the eye doctor told him to see someone about colon cancer. They were pre cancerous things I believe, but theyre removed and hes doing fine now

I actually work in an optometry office and from what I've heard, it's pretty normal to have freckles in the retina, it's just like freckles on your body. He need better protection for his eyes while out in the sun though. I would recommend polarized lenses to help with the glare, and make sure he has a UV protectant lens. If it worries you, you should ask the doctor to explain it a little better, and make sure it isn't affecting anything else.
