Sick family member and five week old?

I have a five week old and I'm visiting my mom. My step dad is sick with a cold I believe...he's pretty congested. Should I cut my trip short or will my baby be okay? She's EBF if that makes much of a difference..but has not had her shots yet. Opinions please :)

Don't do it. My child caught a cold from a family member that came over to see the baby. We spent 3 days in the hospital. The poor baby had to get a spinal tap, crazy amounts of bloodwork and IVs. It was heart wrenching. He's EBF too. Don't risk it

Cutting the trip short won't do anything. The first time she's near him she could get sick. Try to limit her contact with him as much as possible. He'll understand💕

Just a cold can turn into major problems for a newborn. I wouldn't risk it.

At Christmas my mom had a cold and held my son quite a bit, he was fine. Last week my sister visited with the tail end of a cold and my son's been sick all week. So it could go either way. I'd probably try to keep baby's distance.

The day we arrived home from the hospital my husband got sick!  He spent the first two days away from me and the baby.  When he was around us he wore a mask.  We never got sick.

Fast forward 5 weeks and we traveled 5 1/2 hrs away to see my in laws.  When we got there my father in law lets us know that he is sick.  We all used hand sanitizer like crazy and he didn't hold the baby at all but my mother in law did.  The next morning she started feeling sick!  We ended up leaving the next day and none of us got sick.  So I really think it depends on when in the progression of their illness you are around them and measures you take to prevent transmission.  But with that being said, I don't know if I'd risk it.

Nope. My older son goes to daycare. Was nice enough to bring home a cold to my newborn. He got a cold at 7 weeks. Still fighting it at 10 weeks. It seriously blows having a sick baby.
