Over-lineing?

What the shit is up with over lining your lips? I'm not talking shit if it's done right you can't tell. (I can't do it because I have juicy lips and it's obvious I have colored outside the lines.) But when did this start happening? What is the purpose of it? Is it just art or is it some new mating ritual? Like isn't obvious if you're out with huge plump lips and randomly eat or drink and have a ring around your mouth or when you take it off n the guy you're wooing is like "uh...where ya lips at?" I'm just curious. No offense, again. I just really wish someone could explain this trend to me. 😩
