Travel okay during week 8?

Question

I've had a work trip scheduled since last year and I'll be 8 weeks for that trip. It's a 5 hour flight with a connecting flight. Anyone have input on whether it's safe to travel? I should see my doctor in a few days to ask but I'm feeling worried I won't get a straight answer. Anyone have some experiences to share?

Of course you should ask your doctor, but usually you're fine to travel up until your third trimester. And even then it's the airlines usually saying they won't let you fly because they don't want you going into labor mid flight.

I flew transatlantically at 8-9w pregnant. It was a 1h connecting flight to a 7.5 hour flight. On the longer direction I got a cheap upgrade to business class which made a big difference because I had unlimited access to the toilet used only by business class. On the way back the flight wasn't very full and I got an aisle seat.

The worst was the sensitivity to smell but I brought a bag of fresh lemon peel I could smell when I started feeling queasy, which helped. I also told the flight attendants I was pregnant, and made sure I had an aisle seat for quicker access to the bathroom. I also suggest bringing snacks you know you can eat. Airplane food is one of the few things that has made me throw up so I didn't want to risk it.

I went on a cruise at 7 weeks that we'd had booked beforehand. The flights were no problem for me and pretty normal amount of nausea for being at sea lol 😂

I think you should be fine if you don't get any morning sickness. I got BAD morning sickness right at week 6. And the nausea was horrific - I couldn't do practically anything without throwing up.
If you can get an isle seat on the plane so that you'll have the easiest access to the bathroom that would be ideal - if not, then you can always explain your situation to whomever does have the isle seat in your row and ask politely if they would switch with you because you may end up needing to run to the restroom to vomit. If they don't want to switch, you can ask a flight attendant if there's any open isle seats, or you could ask the flight attendant to help you out with some doggy bags to throw up in (or you could keep some in your carry-on bag to have them handy). Throwing up all over an airplane would not be too fun - especially if you weren't able to make it to the bathroom. Have some plastic bags ready that have no holes that you can tie in a knot once you're done so the smell doesn't go everywhere. You may want to bring a toothbrush and some toothpaste with you as well so that your breath doesn't smell of vomit. All that I just said is my advice for if you do end up with morning sickness, which I hope you don't, but you never know.

I traveled all the way to 38 weeks and I was high risk.. in theory,  UNLESS u need to be on complete bed rest,  it's fine to travel up til the 3rd trimester. At 8 weeks,  it's perfectly fine
