normal period after prolonged birth control use?

I was on birth control for over 10 years. I stopped almost 2 years ago and it looks like my period might FINALLY be resembling something closer to normal now. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I was on the pill for 15 years, stopped it in October 2015 and just started having a "normal" flow a few months ago. I get acupuncture and take a herbal medication and I'm pretty sure that is what helped my flow. It has been a stressful 14 months but things seem to be heading in the right direction.
