Answer

You have to start very small (eg: 1 finger) and be very turned on and very relaxed first. It's not something you can just jump into. The internal sphincter is involuntarily held in a really tight closed position, so there's no way to just force something in there without pain.

Also yeah, use good lube. But don't just start out the gate with something penis-sized. That's a bad time.
