Do you argue with your SO about finances?

Okay so I feel my SO and I are constantly fighting about our finances. I recently changed my direct deposit to go into our joint account due to an argument we had and now he's arguing with me because I did that!?? 🤷🏽‍♀️ he says that he didn't say to change my direct deposit (which he didn't) but I changed it to show him what I get paid every two weeks and how it gets spent. I hate fighting over this but he always says I'm in the wrong idk what to do 😤😣

I've been with my husband for 12 years, married 4 1/2. We have separate finances, always have. It just works for us. We do have one joint account that we put our tax returns, etc into and usually make large household purchases/vacations from. We each pay certain bills that total around the same amount and we take turns paying for restaurants, etc

Just be open and honest. Discuss your expectations and wants/needs. Work out a system

We have a joint account and never ever fight about money (been married just over a year, got a joint account about 2 1/2 years ago when we bought our house). Our personalities are easily matched in that respect... don't spend ridiculous ammounts of money on things we don't need, think of it as our money and not his and mine and as such don't track every little bit each use and try and add it up and accuse the other of spending more etc. I couldn't manage a joint and separate one as well it would be to much hassle that I wouldn't want to deal with... for us, having a joint account allows us to both be able to see the finances so we know how much money we have for bills etc and don't have to worry about you pay then I'll pay, or you pay for this and I'll pay for that. So much easier for us but it's not for everyone.

We have our odd disagreement... but when we married i got rid of my accounts & joined his. We share the bank accounts & credit cards... we run a tight budget called YNAB together that works well. Any money left from the budget we put into a savings account. And on that note both our wages go into our joint account. Its neither his or mine ..its ours💜

My husband and I have a joint account. We also make a written budget at the beginning of every month so we both can see and discuss where all of our money will be spent. It also allows us to set and agree on goals and gives us a means to visually work towards them TOGETHER, as a team. We both have the "Mint" app on our phones which is a budget system with categories that syncs with your checking account/debit card, and both log in to see where we are at throughout the month. The discipline can be difficult at first, and it can feel silly. But the peace of mind and security of actually knowing we can afford everything we are spending our money on, and knowing we are on the same page is beyond worth it. It is absolutely key to us not arguing about finances. And has improved our marriage across the board.

Do you live together? Do you share expenses? If not, then stop the direct deposit from going into a joint account.
I've been with my partner for 3 1/2 years, lived together for 2 1/2 of those, and while we do have a joint account, it's for emergencies. We each have our own checking accounts, and we usually deal with cash to pay bills.
You don't have to put all your money in a joint account.
