temporary moving permit for 🚗

Hey everyone. So right now I live in Ct. In a couple months I plan to move to Illinois by myself. Currently I have a car but everything is in my dads name. To make traveling easier as I am bringing my cat along I plan to buy a car in Ct before I move and then use it to drive to IL. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can get a moving permit or something like that so I don't have to register it in both states? Say IL doesn't except out of state moving permits would i then have to first register the car in Ct in order to drive it to IL?
