I'm 17. I used to take the pills but I always kept forgetting to take them. I've been off birth control for almost a year now, I want to get back on it but I don't want to do the pills again so is there any recommendations?

There are plenty of options! I work at a pharmacy so I could tell you all the different pills but besides the pill you have nuvaring. You insert it into the back of your vagina and take it out 28 days later. There's also the shot, the chip and many more. Personally I think you should try the nuvaring before anything else of you don't want the pill

There's the patch which you change weekly or the ring you change monthly. The implant has no effort. The iuds you check monthly after your period or sex to make sure it hasn't moved.

I took the pill for a few years no problem.But when I stopped it and went back to the pill 2 years later it made me really sick. Then I got on depo provera shot and loved it! You have to go to the doctor every 3 months the get the shot but no daily worries. Also the shot made me spot unpredictably for a year but my periods got lighter and less painful so I was happy. Then some time after a year I had no period which was AWESOME! Stayed on depot for like 20 years then stopped to see if it was causing hairloss and docs don't like older ladies on birth control. I miss it so much cause I hate periods!

I'm a nurse for an OBGYN, there are many options depending on your health and what your doctor feels best! If you are having trouble remembering, nuvaring is obviously a good option. There is also IUDs (that go in your uterus) and implants that go in your arm such as nexplanon. Nexplanon has been very popular with teenagers, it's a small rod that sits in your arm for up to 3 years. Downside is a lot of the side effects are very irregular periods at first that can even last weeks. To help the bleeding, your doctor may prescribe a pill to take as well for the first couple of months to regulate it.
