Freedom Of Speech

So my fellow Americans on this app, it seems many of you don't truly understand the first amendment and what it means. Freedom of Speech simply means the government can't arrest you for what you say, or regulate what you say. However, privately owned businesses, apps, websites, blogs etc, can regulate what you say or can't say and can ban you for it or whatever. The first amendment doesn't shield you from social consequences, or from other people's opinions, it doesn't mean people can't reply to your opinion with their own or debate with you. It literally only means the federal government cannot arrest you for what you say nor regulate it. So when you say something bigoted and people attack you online they are not violating your freedom of speech rights and I'm so tired of "ITS MY OPINION, THIS IS AMERICA FREEDOM OF SPEECH" cause that's an invalid point bc you aren't arguing with the federal government last I checked. Yes it's your opinion but just bc you have freedom of speech doesn't mean others can't "attack" you or disagree. So stop using that excuse to shield your bigoted opinion 🙄 I'm tired of seeing this thrown around in CC all the time, that's why I posted it here as a PSA instead of the rant room.
