If you aren't having a period your body won't be able to prepare for ovulation and all that jazz.

you should speak to your doctor about why your period isn't coming and see what they say. Hopefully this resolves for you

Just because you don't get a period don't mean you can't or won't ovulate.  I have irregular periods and was just informed by my doc last week that ovulation happens then around 14 days later your period comes.  Your period is the egg dying off because it didn't get fertilized. That's why when pregnant you don't get a period cuz egg was fertilized and won't get shed.
So yes you can ovulate with no period you just don't know when you will ovulate unless you use opks or bbt. 
That being said id still talk to your doctor and tell her.
