Do you think Religion would be less taboo/controversial if it was made a requirement to study all religions before committing to one?
I know religion is a subject most people shy away from, but, I'm curious.
I know most ( but not all) people in my life have gone into their chosen religion because it was the religion they grew up with. It was the religion their family opened them to. It was the place they and their family congregated. And because of this it got me thinking. It made me think about if people actually choose their religion or if it is chosen for them.
It made me think 'what if'. What if you can grow up studying various religions and make an informed decision of which religion to follow after you have opened your eyes and mind to the variety of beliefs in the world. Being able to do this in my opinion will give you greater understanding towards others and it will also give you time to actually let your brain fully develop so you can understand all aspects of a religion.
Any thoughts? Do you think you should be more free to explore different religions at a young age (since that's when most religion starts being introduced)? Do you think knowing more about other religions will help break down the barriers and help with the controversy surrounding the topic?
