Umbilical cord fell off AGAIN??

My baby is almost 2 weeks old and  i went to the doctors today and they said it would fall off again in about a WEEK because the stump did not come off completely. Has anyone had this issue before? Seen a belly button look like this or know if he will have a messed up looking belly button when he gets older?

I don't know anything about this 
But I would for sure put some petroleum jelly on it. Kind of like you do for a cricimsion (sorry that's the only comparison I can think of) to keep the diaper from sticking to his area. So, essentially to keep anything from sticking to the belly button. 
Then I would call the doctor and just ask about it and see if you should come in

My son had that and the Dr called it a granuloma. They tried freeze therapy but it didn't fall off until he was about 1 1/2 months old.

Something similar happened to my baby, here fell off when she was about a week old but left behind some scabby pieces. I just continued to leave it alone and they all fell off, her belly button looks fine now and it never got infected or anything.

My baby's fell off a little too early. They ended up putting silver nitrate on it and it healed just fine. Did they do that with your baby?
