Is this blood? Freaking out!

I just changed my 6 month old son's pee diaper and this was in it! Is it blood? I'm a FTM so I'm freaking out.

Could be he cut himself and bled a little? My 6 monther's little daggers have his thighs all scabbed up these days. Can't always keep up with those nails and he tries to play during diaper changes.

Is he eating baby food? Anything red or purple? Like beets can cause that. I had a scare at a daycare I worked at this little boy had a pink tint to his diaper and I was so worried it was blood it turned out that all he wanted for supper the night before was water melon. 
If your baby hasn't eaten anything red I would get it checked out to be safe
