Anyone else NOT having a 1st birthday party?

So, we've decided we're not doing a birthday party for my daughter. I figured we could do a cake, but otherwise we're just going to keep it a day like any other. I'm totally fine with other people doing them, but for us, I just know she's not going to remember it or even care. She doesn't need more stuff and with another baby on the way, we don't want to accumulate more. I also don't want to have to take the weekend off work because we need the money.

My mother-in-law is absolutely throwing a fit about this. Now, she's a miserable person and always has been. I know I should just ignore it, but she always manages to rile me up. She keeps telling my husband it's "ridiculous" and that she's going to "fly in and kidnap" our daughter and throw her a party. 🙄🙄🙄

If anything, she makes me feel even more strongly about not having a party, but I'm just wondering if anyone else is skipping it?

Currently going back and forth with this. EVERYONE keeps asking me. His birthday falls on a Monday and we don't party before so the weekend after is Memorial Day weekend. We might just cut a cake at the house or a Bbq at the park near my home but we would literally have to camp out for a spot. 😜I'm content for now knowing that his father and I are taking him to the circus he day before his bday.

We're having a family BBQ but it's more of a family get-together than a birthday party. We have asked for no gifts because she already has too many toys and won't remember it anyways.

No big party here either. I know the first birthday is special, but I just can't justify going to that much expense and work for something she won't remember! I'm excited to do fun birthdays when she's older, but for now, we don't have much planned. We may go visit my family out of state, in which case there would be a small family gathering. But if not, then just a little smash cake at home and a few presents. This has been our first year as a little family of 3, so I kind of like the idea of it just being us. ❤

We are not celebrating either. But it's just cause we are Muslim and muslims don't celebrate birthdays, as it is haram to do so.

We don't have any family or many friends in state, so we're not throwing a party. We're going to take him to the zoo or aquarium and give him a cupcake.

Don't think we are either! Mother in law probably would have had a fit but she's not coming now lol. My daughter was in the nicu for a month so we will take donuts for the nicu staff on her birthday or that weekend and have cake or something at home.  Might do photos if I can find a reasonably priced session.

I am!! Not a bug party like i would like to but a small party most for family in my house since a baby coming in june!! Its just our culture of doing baby first bday
