is it okay to cut your infants hair before they're one?

I've had people tell me that it's okay. And then I have family who says it'll ruin his hair and keep it from growing forever. However, this bald pot is really bothering me. I've tried everything to get it to grow back and it just keeps coming out. Am I able to just shave it? Maybe just the back and sides?

As a hairstylist I can tell you that's definitely a myth, if you think your baby needs a haircut, get one:) it won't change anything about the growth patterns or the amount that is growing on the baby's head, just how long it is

My nephew had such long thick hair he had 7 hair cuts before he was 1 and it hasn't stopped it at all!

This was his first birthday.. and he got it cut at 6 month and 2 weeks before his party

Now we have had it cut 9 times total and he is 22 months old It just depends on the kid... he has so much hair and it grows more than weeds
He has to have. A haircut every month..or messy head returns

My SILs husband's family believes that cutting their hair before one interferes with their speach .....
Yeah. Everyone has crazy beliefs. 
Do what you think is best for your baby. My mom keeps suggesting to cut my daughters hair so it can grow evenly but she's only 8 months I'll let it grow crazy and then just see what i do from there. I'm in no rush for it to grow because i can not for the life of me do hair dos on girls 😂😂 that's so embarrassing to say but it's true

I think it's based on tradition or some old wives tale. My husbands family doesn't cut kiddos hair until their one. I asked him why and he doesn't know- he just knows that's what his family does :) I'm sure it makes no real difference.

My hubby came out with such dark, thick hair, he had his first "haircut" at like 5 weeks lol. And it still grows thicker than mine, so not fair haha!

My 8 month old son has had 5 haircuts. His first when he was 2 months old. Soo much hairand it keeps coming back. That is a silly thing to think. I don't even see how they could believe that
